I was overweight from the age of about 8 until about 36 and it was not fun, I dealt with the ridicule, rejection and definitely disliked shopping.Growing up in New York City didn't make it any easier where the "average" weight is less than that of the south so you tend to stand out. I was active but ate terribly; the freedom to walk back and forth to the store made me a slave to foods that I called "comfort food" weren't so comfortable and as a matter of fact they were killing me softly. Pizza, candy....lots of candy, Chinese food, mcdonalds, and the list goes on and on. By the time I moved to Georgia I was depressed, at my heaviest, unmarried with one child showing signs of developmental delays.
It is up to each individual to seek the truth about what makes you feel the way you do about your health and the health of your loved ones after all thoughts are preludes to actions. The decision makers and lawmakers are not to blame if you look down into your own shopping cart and find foods that lead to illness and malnutrition. The day I looked into my own cart embarrassed at what I was feeding my family, things had to change, whether using ebt or not.
No, it's not normal to feel tired and discomfort after eating, also if you find that you need to take antacids after most meals there's something wrong. Our bodies were perfectly designed with an alarm system and if you put it to sleep constantly, chronic illness sets in including diabetes, and numerous gastrointestinal ailments, to name a few. How about Autism Spectrum disorders? If you know anyone with Autism, you know that what they eat has a direct effect on their functioning, truly it is the same for us all. In a way they are more fortunate because those with food allergies alarm right away when introduced to a threat, sadly the rest of us learn slowly but surely. Foods either maintain and increase energy or simply rob you of it while storing unwanted fat. No dieting is necessary, lifestyle changes is all- add supplements until you can replace these with foods in which they naturally occur, and eliminate the most harmful "foods" from your rotation of meals and YOU WILL achieve life changing results.
All that said, it starts in your mind, what do you believe you deserve and are capable of in your lifetime?
